Bank of Luxemburg completed a CSI core conversion and is now live on the vendor’s NuPoint core banking platform, CSI said. The move gives the northeastern Wisconsin community bank a new operating base for processing bank activity, connecting third-party tools and expanding digital and commercial services.
The bank, founded in 1903, serves customers through nine branch locations in northeastern Wisconsin. According to CSI, Bank of Luxemburg reviewed its options after its prior technology provider shifted strategy away from the core platform the bank had been using.
CSI said the bank looked beyond a direct replacement and sought a technology partner that would continue to improve its systems over time. DeAnna Tittel, chief operating officer of Bank of Luxemburg, said CSI was selected for both its product and service model, calling the choice a long-term partnership decision.
Tittel said the bank was ready two weeks ahead of the conversion date and described the transition as seamless. CSI did not disclose financial terms, implementation costs or the duration of the project.
What is a core banking conversion?
A core banking conversion is the transfer of a bank’s central processing environment to a new platform. That system supports day-to-day bank operations such as account servicing, transaction handling and the workflows employees use to serve customers.
Core projects are closely watched inside banks because errors or downtime can affect staff, customers and connected services. Bank of Luxemburg had completed a prior core conversion 13 years earlier, and CSI said that earlier project had been difficult enough to make the bank alert to potential disruption this time.
CSI said it addressed those concerns by setting a defined project structure and keeping the bank informed as work progressed. Bank employees were given access to training materials and a test bank, allowing them to practice with the new systems before the go-live date.
Nancy Langer, president and chief executive of CSI, said core conversions are among the most consequential projects a financial institution can undertake. She said consolidation in the industry is prompting more community banks to reassess long-standing core relationships, adding that banks need partners that understand the operational burden of changing systems.
What else did Bank of Luxemburg implement?
Alongside NuPoint, Bank of Luxemburg also implemented CSI’s Hawthorn River loan origination platform. CSI said the addition extends the bank’s technology update into lending and creates a more connected foundation for future capabilities.
The bank expects to use the new systems to build out core and digital banking functions, improve cash management and support growth in commercial relationships, according to CSI. The company said the platform also gives Bank of Luxemburg more flexibility to connect with third-party solutions as its strategy develops.
CSI, formally Computer Services Inc., provides financial software and technology to financial institutions. Its announcement positions the Bank of Luxemburg project as part of a broader pattern in which community banks are reviewing core technology relationships as vendor strategies change and digital banking requirements expand.
