CaixaBank has introduced a payments platform for business customers that combines card transaction processing with integration into companies’ management systems, the bank said. The service is intended to automate payment administration, reduce manual errors and give merchants tighter control over daily operations.
The platform was developed by Comercia Global Payments, a business solutions company partly owned by Global Payments and CaixaBank. CaixaBank said the system is designed for businesses that need payment acceptance to connect directly with operational software, rather than operate as a separate checkout function.
For merchants, the mechanism is straightforward: payment events such as sales, authorisations, captures, refunds and cancellations can be fed into internal management systems. That integration can remove manual reconciliation tasks, reduce duplicated work and support larger transaction volumes without requiring a replacement of the underlying payments infrastructure, according to CaixaBank.
Banking services combined with payment technology
CaixaBank said the platform runs on a resilient architecture using multiple servers across different geographic locations. The bank said this design is intended to maintain service continuity during technical incidents and keep payment operations available.
The service includes dynamic currency conversion, allowing international customers to pay in their own currency. It also supports secure storage of payment methods for recurring purchases, offline operation when connectivity is unavailable, and electronic receipts through QR codes, which CaixaBank said can reduce paper use.
The bank also highlighted in-person tokenisation, which allows a merchant to register a customer’s payment details securely at the moment of purchase. CaixaBank said the feature can be used for loyalty programmes and recurring payments, with security controls including end-to-end encryption, external audits and continuous monitoring.
Tokenisation replaces sensitive card details with a digital token that can be used for future transactions within approved settings. For a merchant, that can make repeat payments faster while limiting direct handling of card data.
Calzedonia among first adopters in Spain
Calzedonia, the Italian hosiery and swimwear company, is among the first businesses to adopt the system in Spain, according to CaixaBank. The bank said the implementation enables Calzedonia stores to manage payment transactions centrally and in an integrated way, including sales, authorisations, captures, refunds and cancellations.
CaixaBank said the rollout is intended to improve daily point-of-sale operations for store staff and customers. The bank described Calzedonia as a major fashion-sector retailer with a broad commercial network in Spain.
CaixaBank said Calzedonia joins the bank’s 640,000 business customers. The bank also said it has a market share of more than 30%, positioning the new service as part of its wider merchant acquiring offer for both large companies and smaller businesses.
Scalable offer for merchants
The bank said the platform can support companies with a small number of point-of-sale terminals as well as large retail deployments. CaixaBank said the system is scalable and can be updated continuously without interrupting a business’s transactions.
CaixaBank said the service can be adapted to individual client requirements through an internal development team that implements improvements and customisations. The bank said it is the only bank offering clients a solution with these characteristics, combining payment technology with the guarantees and services of a financial institution.
