Ocasio-Cortez leaves open a 2028 presidential or Senate run

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has left open an Ocasio-Cortez 2028 presidential run while also declining to exclude a Senate bid that year. In remarks aired on ABC’s “This Week,” the New York Democrat said neither possibility should distract from the 2026 midterm elections, according to CNBC.

“I haven’t ruled out the possibility, and I’m very humbled [by] the tremendous amount of support out there,” Ocasio-Cortez said when asked about a potential White House campaign. She added: “I think that we have a responsibility to remain focused on the midterms and not on our individual aspirations.”

Asked separately about a Senate campaign, she said: “I think that anything is possible at this juncture.” CNBC reported that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, also a New York Democrat, is due for reelection in 2028.
