Clairvest-backed NexTech Solutions has acquired Halcyon Days Consulting, a Maryland defense-technology company, in its sixth acquisition since Clairvest’s 2023 investment, according to PE Hub. Financial terms were not disclosed. PE Hub reported that the NexTech Solutions Halcyon Days acquisition adds more than 90 engineers, operators and mission specialists to the aerospace-and-defense contractor.
Halcyon Days Consulting, known as HDC, is headquartered in Stevensville, Maryland and is veteran-owned, PE Hub reported. The target engineers tactical mission networks and operational software for the US military and allied partners. Its networks support about 20,000 users and more than 15,000 managed devices across two active theaters, according to the report.
What does NexTech Solutions gain from Halcyon Days Consulting?
The transaction brings personnel and operational-network capability to NexTech’s existing work for US Department of Defense missions. Clairvest describes NexTech as a provider of integrated systems engineering, testing and evaluation, and operational support, using hardware, software and subject-matter experts.
A tactical mission network is a communications and data system used to connect personnel, devices and software during military operations. PE Hub reported that HDC’s networks have been deployed by US allied and partner forces in contested settings, including Eastern Europe and the Pacific. Those deployments and the network user and device figures were reported by PE Hub and have not been independently detailed in the supplied material.
HDC says it is the only company with experience operating tactical mission networks at wide scale in combat-proven settings, according to PE Hub. That is a company assertion rather than an independently established conclusion.
Clairvest lists NexTech as an active Fund VI portfolio company in the aerospace and defense sector and says it holds a majority ownership position. The investment firm’s portfolio page links NexTech’s strategic investment and leadership announcement to October 2023.
The acquisition extends the buy-and-build programme that PE Hub says began with Clairvest’s investment. The report did not identify NexTech’s previous five acquisitions, provide a transaction value or describe financing, closing timing or regulatory conditions.
