PE Hub reported that the THL Partners Bruce Robertson hire brings the former H.I.G. Capital healthcare investor into the private-equity firm as a managing director on its healthcare investment team. Robertson is expected to focus on medical technology products, life-science tools and diagnostics, sectors where THL has said it sees specific investment opportunities.
THL’s website also carries an October 19, 2026 announcement naming Robertson a managing director on the healthcare investment team. The firm is investing from Fund X, its 10th flagship fund, according to THL.
What will Bruce Robertson invest in at THL Partners?
Robertson’s remit includes finding, assessing and completing investments in medtech products, life-science tools and diagnostics, PE Hub reported. He will also work with the management teams of portfolio companies on growth initiatives.
The move comes as THL seeks to place greater emphasis on healthcare products. MassDevice reported that much of the firm’s healthcare portfolio had been concentrated in services and technology, while the firm is now looking at medical-device developers, diagnostics-test makers and life-science research-tool manufacturers.
That report said THL is considering companies with enterprise values from $250mn to $3bn, and may examine carve-outs of established businesses from larger medtech groups. These are reported investment parameters rather than announced transactions.
Robertson’s H.I.G. background
H.I.G.’s current team page lists Robertson as a senior adviser in its HealthBridge strategy, focused on life-sciences opportunities including biopharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics. A biography published by Leiter’s says he previously spent more than 20 years as a managing director at H.I.G. and co-headed H.I.G. HealthBridge Partners.
During his H.I.G. tenure, Robertson led a team making growth and control investments in medical devices, digital health and diagnostics, according to Leiter’s. The biography lists Intact Vascular, Apollo Endosurgery, Vertiflex, Neuwave Medical, Vesper Medical and RxSight among his prior investments.
His earlier roles included Toucan Capital, GIV Venture Partners, IGEN International and W.R. Grace & Co., according to H.I.G. The firm says Robertson has worked in life sciences for more than 30 years.
