Ant International’s Alipay+ has integrated with Argentina’s national QR code payment scheme, Transferencias 3.0, and partnered with fintech firm PVS to support QR payments by overseas visitors, Finextra reported. The arrangement gives global travellers access to QR acceptance across millions of merchants in Argentina, widening the country’s digital payment reach at the point of sale.

The integration connects Alipay+ to an established domestic QR payment network rather than building a separate merchant acceptance base. For travellers, the service is designed to let them pay through familiar digital wallets linked to Alipay+ when they encounter QR codes at participating Argentine merchants. For merchants, the connection extends access to international wallet users through a single cross-border payments ecosystem.

Weixiao Jiang, general manager for North Asia and the Americas at Alipay+ and Ant International, said Argentina’s interoperable digital payment system provides “a strong foundation for seamless digital commerce.”

Jiang said the company aims to link visitors from major overseas markets with a broad merchant network, adding that Alipay+ hopes the service will support inbound tourism spending and create more opportunities for local businesses.

The rollout comes as Argentina continues to use QR code payments as part of its digital payments infrastructure. Transferencias 3.0 is described by Finextra as the country’s national QR code payment scheme, and the Alipay+ connection expands that system’s usefulness for visitors who may not hold local payment accounts.

PVS, the fintech partner in the arrangement, framed the deal as part of a broader shift in how merchants accept payments across the region. Lucio Colunga, chief executive of PVS, said payment habits are changing quickly and that merchants need payment experiences that keep pace.

Colunga said the partnership gives merchants across Latin America access to one of the world’s largest digital payment ecosystems, connecting them with more than 2 billion user accounts worldwide. He said the service allows international travellers to pay with wallets they already use while creating growth opportunities for businesses in the region.

The Argentine launch builds on an earlier collaboration between Alipay+ and PVS. Finextra reported that the companies partnered in May 2026 to introduce a cross-border mobile payment service in Argentina and Chile.

Ant International has also increased its visibility in Argentina through sport sponsorship. Finextra reported that the company became a sponsor of the Argentina National Football Team in March 2026, ahead of the team’s appearance in the World Cup final this Sunday.
