Juspay has formed a partnership with Recurly to embed its Hyperswitch payment orchestration platform into Recurly’s subscription management and recurring billing system. The companies said the integration is intended to help Recurly merchants cut payment failures, add payment providers more quickly and bring subscription services to market with greater control.
The arrangement connects Recurly’s billing platform with Hyperswitch, an open-source orchestration layer developed by Juspay. Juspay said Hyperswitch supports integrations with more than 300 payment service providers and acquirers globally, giving merchants a route to add providers and payment methods without separate technical builds for each connection.
For subscription businesses, recurring payments are tied directly to retention because a failed payment can interrupt service and contribute to customer churn. Juspay and Recurly said their partnership addresses that issue by combining Recurly’s recurring billing capabilities with Juspay’s payment infrastructure and provider network across multiple geographies.
How the integration works
Payment orchestration provides a single integration layer between a merchant’s commerce or billing system and multiple payment providers. In this case, Recurly can use Hyperswitch to activate new payment methods for merchants through the Recurly environment, rather than requiring those merchants to build and maintain each provider connection independently.
Recurly also uses Hyperswitch’s Platform Organization mode, according to the companies. That mode allows Recurly to onboard and manage merchants across its portfolio programmatically, which the companies said avoids additional operational overhead.
For customers making payments, the companies said the integration is designed to support a smoother checkout process and access to preferred payment methods. For merchants, the promised benefit is a shorter path to launching new payment options and expanding into additional markets through a unified technical layer.
Matt Healey, director of product partnerships at Juspay, said subscription companies need payment infrastructure that is reliable and able to scale. He said Hyperswitch allows merchants to reduce payment friction and enter new markets without rebuilding their payment stack, and that the Recurly partnership brings those tools into the subscription management workflow.
Jonas Flodh, head of strategic partnerships at Recurly, said flexibility and performance are required for subscription businesses operating globally. He said the integration gives merchants access to a broad payments network that can open new payment methods and markets.
Juspay said it works with partners to co-build and optimize payment infrastructure as an extension of internal payments teams. The company said the Recurly collaboration supports its role as a payments infrastructure provider for global platforms seeking to reduce payment complexity for end users.
