Ryder Cup Europe and the PGA of America said Stripe has signed a new agreement to become a worldwide partner and the official financial and payments infrastructure partner of the Ryder Cup. The Stripe Ryder Cup partnership will cover the 2027 match at Adare Manor in Limerick, Ireland, and the 2029 match at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota.
The deal extends an existing online payments relationship between the tournament and Stripe into a broader role across ticketing, hospitality, on-site spending and financial reporting. The organisations did not disclose financial terms.
The Ryder Cup, established in 1927, is a biennial match-play competition between professional golfers from the United States and Europe. Ryder Cup Europe and the PGA of America said the event draws a global audience of millions.
What will Stripe do for the Ryder Cup?
Stripe will support online ticket and hospitality sales through a single checkout process, according to Ryder Cup Europe and the PGA of America. Stripe Link will provide a one-click payment option, while local payment methods are intended to serve fans buying from different markets.
At the venues, Stripe Terminal is expected to process payments across food and beverage, merchandise and retail operations. Stripe will also work with the Ryder Cup on financial reporting, giving the organisers a more consistent view of payments activity across different sales channels.
Payment terminals connect in-person card and digital wallet transactions to the same processing infrastructure used for online payments. For an event operator, that can reduce the operational split between e-commerce sales before an event and transactions made on site.
Stripe, founded by Patrick and John Collison and dual-headquartered in San Francisco and Dublin, provides programmable financial services to companies ranging from start-ups to large enterprises. Its products cover payments, billing, revenue management and money movement.
Ryder Cup payments move toward cashless operations
Guy Kinnings, chief executive of the European Tour group, said Stripe’s technology would help provide a cashless experience in Ireland, with greater speed and convenience for fans. He pointed to the scale of the Ryder Cup’s commercial operations, including more than 70,000 square feet of merchandise space at the 2025 match in New York.
Conor McNamara, Stripe’s chief revenue officer for EMEA, said the Ryder Cup’s mix of ticketing, food and beverage, and merchandise payments fits the type of large-scale financial infrastructure work Stripe handles for businesses. He said the company would support the fan journey from ticket purchase through spending at the course.
Terry Clark, chief executive of the PGA of America, said the organisation expected Stripe’s payments infrastructure to support spectator payments across touchpoints at the 47th Ryder Cup at Hazeltine.
The agreement places Stripe among the Ryder Cup’s top-tier worldwide partners for two future editions of the event, spanning Europe and the United States. For Stripe, the partnership adds another high-profile sports event to its roster of enterprise payments customers.
