The Decera Onviv investment gives Riverside-backed Decera Clinical exposure to a healthcare knowledge and expert network platform based in Morristown, New Jersey. PE Hub reported that financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, leaving the size and structure of the investment unspecified.

Decera Clinical, based in Reston, Virginia, provides continuing education for medical professionals, according to PE Hub. The company has been backed by The Riverside Company since 2020.

Onviv was founded in 2015 and is led by founder and chief executive Jeff Meehan, PE Hub reported. Excel Partners acted as exclusive financial adviser to Onviv in connection with the investment.

What is the Decera Onviv investment?

The transaction is an investment by Decera Clinical in Onviv Inc., which PE Hub described as a healthcare knowledge and expert network platform. No purchase price, ownership percentage or financing details were disclosed.

A healthcare expert network platform generally sits between organizations seeking specialised insight and professionals with relevant medical or industry knowledge. In this case, the reported combination brings together Decera Clinical’s continuing education business and Onviv’s knowledge and expert network platform.

Riverside frames the deal around healthcare, technology and expertise

Peter Tsang, co-chief investment officer of the Riverside Capital Appreciation Fund, said in a statement that the investment reflected Riverside’s continued focus on “differentiated, mission-aligned businesses” operating across healthcare, technology, data and human expertise.

Tsang said Decera Clinical and Onviv each had distinct strengths and established market positions. He added that the businesses were positioned for continued growth, innovation and long-term value creation.

The Riverside Company is a private equity sponsor of Decera Clinical. PE Hub reported that Riverside first invested in Decera Clinical in 2020, though it did not disclose terms of that earlier investment in the report.

Adviser and company details

Excel Partners served as the exclusive financial adviser to Onviv, according to PE Hub. No legal advisers, lenders or other transaction participants were named.

The reported investment adds to private equity activity at the intersection of healthcare services and technology-enabled information platforms. For operators and investors, the disclosed facts point to a transaction aimed at combining professional education capabilities with expert-led healthcare knowledge services, although the parties did not release financial metrics or post-transaction ownership details.
