KKR has appointed Roy Gori, the former president and chief executive of Manulife, as a senior advisor, PE Hub reported. Financial terms tied to the role were not disclosed.

The appointment brings to KKR an executive with senior leadership experience across insurance, banking and Asian financial markets. PE Hub reported that before becoming Manulife’s chief executive, Gori served as president and CEO of Manulife Asia.

Gori began his career at Citibank in 1989, according to PE Hub. He later rose within the bank to lead its Asia-Pacific retail business.

Senior advisor roles at global investment firms typically give firms access to sector expertise, operating experience and industry relationships. PE Hub did not disclose the specific business areas or investments on which Gori will advise KKR.

KKR is a global investment firm active across private markets. The reported appointment adds another senior financial services executive to its advisory ranks at a time when large alternative asset managers continue to draw on executives with experience in insurance and banking.

This story draws on original reporting from PE Hub.
