The Momentum Corbett acquisition gives Nonantum-backed Momentum Environmental a broader operating base in New York’s environmental and industrial services market. PE Hub reported that Momentum acquired certain assets of Corbett Industrial Cleaning Services, known as CICS, and that the parties did not disclose financial terms.

Momentum is based in Bath, New York, and provides environmental and industrial services. CICS is an environmental services provider based in Menands, New York, according to PE Hub. The transaction is Momentum’s fourth acquisition since 2024.

What did Momentum acquire from Corbett Industrial Cleaning Services?

PE Hub reported that Momentum bought certain assets of CICS, rather than announcing a full-company purchase. In an asset acquisition, a buyer typically selects specified assets to acquire under the deal agreement; the companies did not disclose which assets were included.

The deal changes Momentum’s operating footprint in New York. Following the acquisition, Momentum operates three waste processing facilities permitted by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, along with seven service locations across the state, PE Hub reported.

  • Bath, New York
  • Lancaster, New York
  • Rochester, New York
  • Syracuse, New York
  • Oswego, New York
  • Tonawanda, New York
  • Albany, New York

The permitted waste processing facilities indicate a regulated operating component in Momentum’s business. State environmental permits govern waste processing activities and form part of the compliance infrastructure for companies working in environmental services.

Who is involved in the deal?

Momentum is backed by Nonantum Capital Partners, according to PE Hub. Nonantum is the private equity sponsor behind Momentum as the company continues to add businesses and assets in its sector.

Craig Corbett, the founder of CICS, will join Momentum as director of operations for the company’s eastern region as part of the transaction, PE Hub reported. CICS was founded in 2015.

Bill Hunter, Momentum’s chief executive, said the company has built its acquisition approach around businesses that share its operating standards and values. He said Craig Corbett and the CICS team had built a business known in eastern New York for precision, safety and execution, and that Momentum was adding the team as it expands its presence in the region.

The announcement adds to private equity-backed consolidation in specialized industrial and environmental services, where operators often seek route density, permitted facilities and regional service coverage. PE Hub did not report revenue, employee counts, valuation, financing details or the sellers’ post-closing ownership position.
