Tocqueville Asset Management growth capital will come from Leon Financial Network, a subsidiary of Leon Capital Group, according to PE Hub. The transaction gives the New York City-based independent registered investment adviser fresh capital, with financial terms not disclosed.
PE Hub reported that the funding is intended to help Tocqueville build long-term enterprise value. The deal also marks Leon Financial Network’s second investment in the registered investment adviser and wealth management sector, following its investment in Legacy Knight, a Dallas-based multi-family office.
Who is investing in Tocqueville Asset Management?
Leon Financial Network is providing the capital, according to PE Hub. The firm works with asset managers and independent RIAs that oversee between $250 million and $20 billion in assets, offering flexible debt and equity capital.
An RIA, or registered investment adviser, is a firm registered to provide investment advice to clients. In transactions of this kind, growth capital can take the form of debt, equity or a mix of both, giving an advisory business funding to expand without necessarily changing all elements of its ownership or operating model.
Tocqueville Asset Management is based in New York City and operates as an independent RIA, PE Hub reported. No additional details were disclosed on the size of the investment, the ownership stake, if any, or governance arrangements tied to the capital infusion.
What is Leon Financial Network’s strategy?
Leon Financial Network targets partnerships with asset management and wealth management firms that fit its capital criteria, according to PE Hub. Its stated model is to provide flexible debt and equity capital to firms with assets under management ranging from $250 million to $20 billion.
Fernando De Leon, founder and chief executive of Leon Capital Group, said Leon Financial Network reflects the parent company’s approach to patient capital and building businesses across real estate, healthcare, technology and financial services. He said the platform aims to support wealth and asset management firms that have shown operational strength over time and can benefit from Leon’s network and resources.
The Tocqueville partnership follows Leon Financial Network’s earlier investment in Legacy Knight. PE Hub described Legacy Knight as a multi-family office based in Dallas.
Leon Capital Group is a holding company with assets in financial services, healthcare, real estate and technology, according to PE Hub. The Tocqueville investment extends the group’s financial services activity into the RIA and wealth management market through its Leon Financial Network subsidiary.
