TPD Design House has joined Philadelphia-based Tarte Family Office in a private-capital transaction intended to expand the 26-year-old agency’s capacity in luxury events, branding and experiential design. The TPD Design House acquisition followed a court-approved Chapter 11 sale, with the assets purchased free and clear of debt, the agency said.
The deal places a founder-led creative agency under family-office ownership at a time when high-end events and brand experiences often require larger production budgets, tighter logistics and more technical capacity. For clients, the immediate message is continuity: founder Vanessa Kreckel will remain Chief Creative Officer, and the agency’s creative team stays in place.
What does the Tarte Family Office deal change at TPD Design House?
TPD has begun operational upgrades and is expanding its in-house technical capabilities, including a new fleet of advanced production equipment. The agency said those investments are designed to support larger scenic builds and custom installations for clients worldwide.
Scott Tarte will serve as interim Chief Executive Officer. Evan Tarte has joined as Chief Financial Officer, with responsibility for improvements to financial controls, accounting, human resources, business development and operations.
Under a Chapter 11 asset sale, a bankruptcy court approves the transfer of assets through the bankruptcy process. A purchase “free and clear” generally means certain debts, liens or claims are handled through the bankruptcy estate rather than remaining attached to the assets acquired by the buyer.
Kreckel said the new ownership gives TPD the infrastructure and capital to support its creative ambitions while keeping the agency’s direction intact. The agency, founded 26 years ago, works across luxury events, hospitality, nonprofits, private clients and brand experiences.
A family office is a private investment and administrative platform for a wealthy family. In operating-company acquisitions, that capital can be used to support longer-term expansion, although the pace and scale of growth depend on management execution and market demand.
The announcement credited Scott Tarte with decades of experience building creative services businesses. As CEO of Sparks Marketing, he expanded the company from a trade show exhibit manufacturer into a $450 million experiential marketing agency with 750 employees globally before its 2023 sale, according to the announcement. Through the Tarte Family Office, he has acquired or participated in the acquisition of 18 companies over the past 25 years.
The new ownership is seeking to scale the luxury event production agency without changing its client-facing creative model. That balance will be central to the transaction’s success: TPD is adding systems, equipment and financial oversight while trying to preserve the high-touch service model that shaped its reputation.
