Valeas to invest in UK retirement adviser My Pension Expert

Valeas Capital Partners has agreed to make a strategic investment in My Pension Expert, the UK at-retirement advice business, with Palatine Private Equity exiting after a four-year partnership, according to PE Hub. The transaction comes after My Pension Expert reported 40 percent organic growth since 2023 and reached approximately 20,000 clients with about £2 billion, or $2.7 billion and €2.3 billion, in assets under administration.

The deal is expected to close later this year, subject to approval from the Financial Conduct Authority, PE Hub reported. Regulatory approval is a key condition because My Pension Expert provides regulated retirement advice to UK consumers, placing the business within the perimeter of the UK financial services watchdog.

My Pension Expert is headquartered in Doncaster and is a certified B Corporation. The company employs staff in Doncaster and also uses remote workers across the UK, according to PE Hub.

Retirement advice platform

My Pension Expert provides individualized retirement advice to mass-market UK consumers, including people who otherwise lack access to financial advice, PE Hub reported. In that model, assets under administration refer to client assets connected to the company’s advice and administration activity, rather than capital owned by the adviser itself.

The business operates in a part of the financial services market shaped by demographic pressure, pension freedoms and regulatory scrutiny over consumer outcomes. PE Hub did not report financial terms for the Valeas investment.

Noah Viner, principal at Valeas Capital Partners, said My Pension Expert represented a distinctive platform in the UK retirement sector. He said Valeas planned to support the company’s expansion by helping it scale its offering and broaden access to personalized financial guidance.

For Valeas, the investment adds exposure to a regulated consumer financial advice provider with an established client base and reported organic growth. For Palatine, the agreement marks an exit following its four-year period backing the company.

Advisers and timetable

Ardea Partners advised My Pension Expert on the transaction, while Hines Associates advised Valeas, according to PE Hub.

The parties have set completion for later this year, pending FCA approval. Until that approval is secured and the transaction closes, Palatine remains in the exit process and Valeas’ investment has not yet completed.
