Assisi Pet Care, the UK producer of premium natural pet food and treats backed by Wind Point Partners, has acquired Forthglade from IK Partners, PE Hub reported. The deal adds a natural pet food manufacturer to a platform that now covers seven pet food and treats brands across the UK and Europe, according to PE Hub.
PE Hub reported that Forthglade doubled revenue during IK Partners’ ownership, which began in 2020. The company also increased production capacity and built out its digital commerce presence over the same period, according to the report.
The acquisition extends Assisi’s position in the premium natural pet food category, a segment where brand portfolios, manufacturing scale and online distribution can be important drivers of growth. For private equity-backed platforms, add-on acquisitions are commonly used to broaden product ranges, reach new customers and combine operating infrastructure across related businesses.
Assisi is backed by Wind Point Partners, a private equity firm. Forthglade was owned by IK Partners, a European private equity firm, before the sale, PE Hub reported.
The transaction gives Assisi a further established brand in natural pet food as it builds a multi-brand business across the UK and Europe. PE Hub said the enlarged portfolio spans seven brands, though it did not list the full set of brands in the publicly available details.
Forthglade’s expansion under IK Partners included both physical capacity and digital channels, according to PE Hub. In consumer goods businesses, those two areas can affect how a company serves retailers and direct customers: production capacity determines how much product can be made, while digital commerce infrastructure supports online sales and customer acquisition.
No valuation, financing details or management changes were included in the details reported by PE Hub. The report did not specify whether Forthglade will continue to operate under its existing brand within Assisi’s portfolio.
