Banyan Capital Partners has promoted Simon Gélinas to managing director and head of investments, according to PE Hub. The move puts Gélinas in charge of the day-to-day leadership of the firm’s investment function, including how potential deals are managed, selected, executed and overseen after investment.
PE Hub reported that Gélinas will lead pipeline management, investment selection and execution, and asset management across Banyan’s portfolio. In a private equity firm, those responsibilities typically sit at the centre of capital deployment: the pipeline tracks prospective transactions, selection determines which opportunities proceed, execution covers the process of completing investments, and asset management concerns the oversight of portfolio companies after a deal closes.
Gélinas has been with Banyan since 2015, according to PE Hub. His promotion formalises a senior investment leadership role at the firm and gives him operational responsibility for the investment process across the portfolio.
Before joining Banyan, Gélinas held senior positions at TRU Simulation & Training and its predecessor, Mechtronix Inc, PE Hub reported. He also previously served as a vice-president at Richardson Capital Limited.
Banyan Capital Partners is identified by PE Hub as the firm making the promotion. No transaction value, fund size, portfolio company details or additional management changes were disclosed in the report.
