HighVista Strategies has hired Ramit Malhotra as a principal on its GP-led secondaries team in New York, according to PE Hub. The appointment adds to the firm’s private equity secondaries effort, a strategy led by Raudel Yanez.

PE Hub reported that Yanez is managing director and head of private equity secondaries at HighVista. The report did not provide additional detail on Malhotra’s mandate within the team.

Malhotra joins HighVista from CPP Investments, where he served as a principal on the private equity secondaries team, according to PE Hub. Earlier in his career, he was a vice president at Spring Bridge Partners.

GP-led secondaries generally involve a private equity sponsor arranging a transaction that gives existing investors a liquidity option while allowing the manager to retain exposure to one or more assets. HighVista’s hire places Malhotra within that part of the secondaries market, according to PE Hub’s description of his new role.

PE Hub classified the move within financial services. No financial terms, fund details or additional personnel changes were included in the report.
