Principal Industries, a portfolio company of Wynnchurch Capital, has acquired GENLED Brands, PE Hub reported. The transaction adds an East Rutherford, New Jersey-based LED lighting business to Principal’s platform, while the purchase price and other financial terms were not disclosed.
Principal Industries is based in San Angelo, Texas, and supplies LED components and engineered assemblies, according to PE Hub. GENLED makes LED lighting products, systems and related solutions.
GENLED was founded in 2003, PE Hub reported. Scott Vontobel serves as the company’s chief executive.
The acquisition is a private equity-backed add-on transaction, in which a sponsor-owned operating company buys another business to broaden its commercial footprint, product base or technical capabilities. In this case, PE Hub identified Principal as the buyer and Wynnchurch Capital as the private equity backer.
No revenue, employee count, valuation, financing structure or closing conditions were disclosed in the report. The companies’ post-closing integration plans were also not detailed.
The deal sits within the broader industrial and technology supply chain around LED lighting, where manufacturers and assemblers serve customers seeking lighting components, systems and engineered products. PE Hub did not report any changes to GENLED’s leadership following the acquisition.
